As the warmer days start to return and spring arrives, September brings plenty of reasons to get back outside across Perth's northern suburbs.
Father's Day kicks things off across the first weekend of the month, the AFL Grand Final brings everyone together later in September, and in between there's a great mix of family days, community events, running festivals and local entertainment.

Grab your boots and join the Cherry Steppers for a fun, beginner-friendly line dancing class every Wednesday night in Currambine.
No partner is required, new dances are taught each week, and the classes are designed to be welcoming whether it's your first time line dancing or you're already familiar with the steps.
Entry is $10, which can be redeemed on food or drinks afterwards, so it's also a good excuse to stay for dinner or a drink with friends.

Free Collective Meditation in Ocean Reef

For something at a slower pace, Sahaja Yoga Australia is hosting a free guided collective meditation session at Beaumaris Community Centre.
The session is suitable for beginners and offers locals a relaxed way to slow down at the end of the week.

Free Music Showcase in Kinross
Thursday 17 September | Kinross College Performing Arts Theatre | Falkland Way, Kinross
Kinross College's 2026 Music Showcase brings together students from across the school's music program for an evening of live performances.
The lower school showcase runs from 5:30pm – 7pm, followed by the senior school showcase from 7:15pm – 8:30pm, giving families and the local community a chance to see some of the talent coming through the college.

September Beach Comp in Ocean Reef
Saturday 19 September, 5am – Sunday 20 September, 4pm | Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club, Boat Harbour Quay | 3 Boat Hbr Quays, Ocean Reef
The Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club Angling Section's monthly beach competition returns for September.
There's no sign-on and no fishing boundaries, with competitors able to fish anywhere land-based before returning to the club for weigh-in by 4pm Sunday. Visitors are welcome to compete, although prizes are reserved for members.
Categories include Men's, Women's, Veterans, Juniors and Mini Juniors, along with a mystery fish and participation prize.
Local tip from Nikki Kale: "The Sea Sports Club is one of those places that really reflects the community side of Ocean Reef. Events like these bring people together, and the harbour is a pretty good place to spend a Sunday afternoon whether you're fishing or not."

Rotary Mindarie Quiz Night in Quinns Rocks

Put your general knowledge to the test for a good cause at the Rotary Mindarie Quiz Night, hosted by the Rotary Club of Mindarie.

Sunset Coast Marathon & Run Festival in Mullaloo

Bloom: Living Connections Luna Light Journey in Joondalup
From Saturday 26 September – Sunday 25 October | Central Park | 187 Grand Boulevard, Joondalup
Central Park transforms after dark this spring for Bloom: Living Connections Luna Light Journey, an immersive night-time experience featuring lasers, holographic wildlife and interactive installations throughout the park.
The illuminated walking trail runs nightly from 26 September to 25 October, making it a great option for families, couples or anyone looking for something a little different to do on a spring evening.
Tickets start from $11.50 for children and $16.50 for adults.

Masters Athletica Mullaloo Magic Coast Run in Mullaloo
Sunday 27 September | 8am | Tom Simpson Park, 5 Oceanside Promenade, Mullaloo
Masters Athletics WA's Mullaloo Magic returns to Tom Simpson Park this September, giving local runners and walkers another chance to enjoy one of the northern suburbs' best coastal routes.
The event includes a 12km run and 6km run or walk, with the course following the Mullaloo coastline from Tom Simpson Park.
MAWA members can enter free, while visitors and non-members can register in advance for $7 per event.
Local tip from Linda Noble: "This stretch of Mullaloo is used by locals every day for walking and running, so it's a lovely spot for an event like this. And you're never far from a good coffee afterwards."
